Corbusier's Architecture: Chandigarh
(Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) / Le Corbusier (Wikipedia), is unarguably a Face and Phase of Indian Architecture, who has influenced ( still influencing ) the architectural vocabulary of many contemporary architects. His Architectural work in India is limited to a few built and unbuilt Architectural masterpieces in Chandigarh and Ahmedabad which got recognized as UNESCO WHS UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016, which includes Palace of Justice / Punjab and Haryana High Court building, Government Museum and Art Gallery, Secretariat Building, Governor's Palace, and Palace of Assembly buildings are in Chandigarh; and Mill Owner's Association Building, Villa Sarabhai, Villa Shodhan and Sanskar Kendra buildings are in Ahmedabad. His other Architectural masterpieces inscribed in the WHS list The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, an Outstanding Contribution to the Modern Movement are spread across the world, and are recognized to counter the challenges of inventing new architectural techniques to respond to the needs of society. These masterpieces of a creative genius also attest to the internationalization of architectural practice across the planet.
This Architectural picture blog post features the Palace of Assembly building, and the Palace of Justice, as envisaged by the pioneer of Modern Architecture, Le Corbusier.
